Sokoloff's Cabin Sokoloff’s Cabin A Hardware & Gadget Blog I’ve Got Sciatica – Oh No!! February 23, 2015 So I was lounging around most of yesterday recovering from a rather large night out. (Hang over from hell!!!) watching my favourite comfort movies – I will NOT be naming them for fear of cyber bullying hehe, when I got this absolutely excruciating pain in my lower back. The pain I can only describe as some sort of stabbing pain, a pain I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemies – not that I have any, I’m lovely, It went all the way from my lower back, down my left leg and branched out across my left foot. I was and am still in a lot of pain. I thought I was having a heart attack. The common sense bells kicked in an told me I had it the opposite way round, so I took to the internet and found I have something called Sciatica, and from what I have read, ONLY A MILD FORM OF IT! The internet is a scare mongering paradise, I must have read about 50 different fatal conditions I contracted before finding the problem I really had here. Yesterday was a Sunday so I couldn’t see the DR, so all I could do was find the best immediate relief for sciatica and immediately put that into use. I’ll be seeing the DR later today who will hopefully refer me to a good therapist who can put me on these special exercises to get rid of it. For now though an ice pack will have to do. Hopefully my next post won’t be a painful one, but rest assured I will be back again soon. Share your thoughts My new 4K Sony Video Camera and 4K Monitor January 30, 2015 V. Excited, Just got my hands on a new 4K Handy Cam!! I’ll soon be able to Vlog? Vblog? Which one is it? I can’t remember. Anyway, will soon be able to start doing my own e cigarette reviews in 4K RESOLUTION! Yay!!! Finding the right camera and monitor was a nightmare, I am completely clueless on this! How many different monitors are there out there? Hundreds… Thousands? And which of those would work best for what I wanted? I don’t know, I am clueless about this stuff… My boyfriend has no idea either. A screen is a screen to him, as long as his XBOX One works on it he’s happy. Anyway, my research hat went on and I began delving in to the big wide web and started digging. I came across this blog over at Panel Review on which provided a good source of information on what to get. The listed 4 of the best 27 inch monitors of which I chose the 4k one (obviously) as I wanted a nice 4k video camera. Before you ask and say how do you know about 4k TVs or monitors? I saw them on TV ok. Like my eciggies, I like the best so will only settle with the best. I must admit, I was in hysterics when the monitor arrived and my boyfriend found out it was not compatible with the XBOX One. Uses a display plug or something which the XBOX doesn’t work with. More for me I say! Plugged it into my MacBook Pro and was instantly flabbergasted at the details the screen could show. Coincidently on that same site, they were also reviewing what they say was the only 4k consumer video camera out at the moment. It was called the Sony AX100 4k Handycam or something. Killed 2 birds with one stone visiting that site. Bought the video camera and will hopefully be good to go soon. The site does suggest purchasing certain accessories, but those reviews aren’t out yet, so I guess I’ll make do with what I have before they add them on there. I have a lot of work cut out for me now as this 4k video camera is very complicated and not too easy to work out how to use. That review helped a lot, but my mind does go a bit blur when it comes to new technology. I am a strange girl. Wanting all this new technology, yet having no real understanding on how to use it. Good thing I have a lot of time and money to spare! Anyway, just a short blog today, wanted to share my latest achievements and challenges I now face. Not life threatening I know, but still…. Until next time xxx Share your thoughts My Passion, My New Best Friend – The Electronic Cig January 21, 2015 Wow, my first post. Having only received confirmation this blog is mine I wanted to get up and running as quikcly as possible. I do intend one day to make use of this site perhaps as an onlione store at at the very least an online CV, but for the time being I am using this as my journal. What better way to start this blog off, than to write about my new favourite toy, the electronic cigarette. Growing up in a time where it was cool to smoke, and even required if you wanted to know the right people, took its toll later on in life. 10 years down the road, I found myself the only one smoking away on these dreadful things. Whats worse now with all the new smoking laws hammering down on you today, I found myself standing in the rain smoking all too often. Those who smoke know very well that smoking in the rain magnifies the stench these cancer stinks leave on your clothes. No hiding that fact from the “rents” if they didnt know you smoked. Mine did and didnt approve, but we’re not here to talk about mum and dad so lets move on. About 6 months ago, I was sipping on a particulary delicious G & T over at a mates house in the blistering heat of Summer, when one of guests whipped out what I could only imagine at that time to be some sort of Japanese sex toy and while still in shock saw said guest begin sucking on it. To my shock and horror he then blew smoke out his nostrils and mouth leaving my imagination running wild. I maybe blonde, but NOT that blonde, I did kinda guess what it was, but to be sure I went over and asked him what it was. Sure enough, it was an electronic cigarette. Not the one that looks like a cigarette, but a larger “gurthier” one that had an led screen on it. It wasnt long after that experience that I purchased my own, and girlfriends… I never looked back. I quit smoking on the spot. I immediately purchased a Kanger EVOD kit (a device in between the cig alike and dildo looking thing) and found a great e liquid site (the stuff you put in your electronic cigarette to produce the smoke) and spent like £120 setting my self up for a month. Not long after I got my self a Provari from provape.com and a beautiful rebuildable atomizer called the GG Ithaka. Vaping just got better and better. 6 months down the line, My boy friend gave me this. My new best friend. A custom built battery – the iHybrid that vapes like a dream. Together with this and my favourite e juice that’s also 100% VG – Theyre socially connected too, I will never ever go back to smoking. I just hope the laws in 2016 dont go ahead and ruin this for everyone, because I feel like a complete none smoker now and dont want to start again if the government ruin it for everyone. Next up I will most likely write about some PC or Hardware I love to use. Stay tuned I’ll leave you with a video review of the ihybrid Share your thoughts Search for: About Me Hi This is me, Marla Sokoloff... No not the actress, just a plain old country girl born and bred in the UK. Finally got my name as domain name (took 2 years), for reasons I am sure you can guess. Anyway, before I really develop my blog, I am focusing on everyday stuff. Stuff that I am in too and do on a daily basis. My hobbies include computer hardware and gaming (Yes I know.. I'm a girl that likes to game) and other innovative gadgets, like my new best friend - the electronic cigarette. If you stumble upon this blog (tee hee) feel free to share it with your social networks. Thanks for stopping by Recent Posts I’ve Got Sciatica – Oh No!!
